Expanding the Trauma Unit at Tzafon Medical Center
Strengthening Lifesaving Emergency Care in Northern Israel
The Need
Tzafon Medical Center serves as a regional trauma center for communities across the Galilee, Golan Heights, Tiberias and the valleys. Each year, approximately 8,500 patients receive trauma care at the hospital, including people injured in road accidents, violent incidents, workplace accidents and security-related emergencies.
The severity of trauma cases has risen dramatically in recent years. Since 2020, the number of severe and critical trauma cases treated at the Medical Center has increased fivefold. At the same time, its trauma teams respond to mass-casualty incidents with growing frequency, when several patients may require lifesaving treatment simultaneously.
The existing Trauma Unit has only three treatment stations. This capacity no longer meets the region’s growing needs, particularly when every minute can make a difference. For communities in northeastern Israel, many of them far from other major medical centers, timely access to advanced trauma care close to home is essential.
The Project
Tzafon Medical Center plans to expand the Trauma Unit from three to seven treatment stations. The expansion will enable medical teams to provide advanced, lifesaving care to several critically injured patients at once, strengthen the hospital’s response to mass-casualty incidents and reduce the need to transfer patients to distant medical centers.
The project is part of a broader effort to strengthen public healthcare in Northern Israel and ensure high-quality, accessible medical care for the region’s communities, in routine times and emergencies alike.
Supporting the Project
Expanding the Trauma Unit is a direct investment in lifesaving capacity and in the strength of Northern Israel’s healthcare system. We invite you to take part in this important project and help ensure access to advanced trauma care for the people of the region.
